I’m Hamish, the guy behind GDN—short for ‘garden’, but you probably figured that out already. We’re a fresh-faced family business that kicked off in 2024, and we’re all about bringing a slice of the Mediterranean to British gardens.

Here’s the story: after a few too many goodbyes in the corporate world, I decided it was time to step away from the office grind and spend my days doing something I actually love. Enter olive trees.

I’m no gardening whiz, but there’s something about those twisty trunks and silvery leaves that takes me back to summer childhood holidays and my wife’s family roots in Galicia, Spain.

My love for the outdoors isn’t just a passion—it’s a family affair. Alongside my wife, our beautiful two young girls, and our chocolate labrador Bonnie, we find joy in the simple pleasure of being surrounded by nature. We believe a garden is more than just a space; it’s an extension of your living area, a place where memories are made and tranquillity can be found.

When we bought our first home together in Northwest London, the excitement to get our very own olive tree was palpable. It wasn’t just about the tree; it was about creating a sanctuary, a slice of Mediterranean charm right here in Britain. But finding that perfect olive tree was a challenge—everything was either too pricey or just disappointing.

That’s where my old man came in, with his knack for finding treasures around the Mediterranean for his antiques business, he met the owner of a farmland in Spain and brought us back a stunning olive tree. It was perfect. And as it turns out, I wasn’t the only one in love with these trees. After a bunch of friends and family asked me to find trees for them, I thought, “Hey, I might be onto something here.”

And that’s how GDN started— out of a genuine love for these trees and the desire to find garden décor that stands out from the crowd. I want to offer people great quality products that are affordable because everyone deserves a piece of this joy. I’m genuinely passionate about GDN and handpick every item we sell myself, ensuring that each one can handle whatever the British weather throws at it.
